Located on the Oscuros Guatalones estate, Guanagazapa, Escuintla, at the turnoff at km 93 on the road to the Pedro de Alvarado border. ECA La Bendición is composed of families internally displaced by the armed conflict. The community was established in 2000 when it acquired the Oscuros Guatalones farm, covering an area of 12.5 caballerias. Today, it consists of 52 families from the San Marcos and Todos Santos Cuchumatanes areas of Huehuetenango. They have implemented a mixed management system, with individual management of plots for the production of staple grains, grazing, and timber, while the forest area is managed collectively. The community organization includes committees for education, women, water, and forestry, as well as a board of directors responsible for overseeing the use, management, and governance of the land.

Within the community, there is a board of directors responsible for overseeing the governance of the territory, as well as a women’s council that manages a community credit system, lodging services, food provision, vegetable and fish fry production, and training opportunities for women. Today, the community has 411.6 hectares of protected forest from which its water sources originate.
