The Nueva Trinidad Indigenous Community, comprising 163 families from the Maya Popti’, Mam, and Q’anjob’al peoples, has been fighting since 2018 for a dignified relocation. The volcanic eruption severely affected their territory, which the government has declared uninhabitable. Even so, the families continue to work the land to ensure their livelihood.
The Comunitarian Funds “Joining Hands for the Future of Nueva Trinidad” It aims to raise funds to identify and acquire a new, safe land with legal certainty, enabling families to rebuild their collective future.
