The partiality was founded as a nonprofit civil association in 2011 in the municipality of Totonicapán, in the Juchanep district. Its name derives from Achí Chaclán, the common ancestor to whom the lands belonged.

All members of the community identify as Kiche’ Indigenous people, descendants of those who have always cared for the forest. Their relationship with this environment thus reflects a strong connection to nature, rooted in their ancestral heritage and a worldview that is subtly expressed in Mayan rituals.

Their view of the forest and its natural resources is not based on ownership or control over them, nor on a power dynamic. The members of this community see their role as caring for and protecting the forest through a constant and enduring harmonious relationship.
