Asociación Agropecuaria y artesanal para el desarrollo “La Guadalupana”

Located at Kilometer 145, Aldea El Novillero, Santa Lucía Utatlán, Sololá, the Agricultural and Artisanal Association for Development “La Guadalupana” began its formation process in 1989 and became a legal entity as a non-profit organization on December 12, 1990. on December 12, 1990. Its objective is to promote the comprehensive development of its members and community, most of whom are farmers and artisans, through the implementation of productive projects based on the conservation of natural resources.

In 2002, the Uk'ux K'achelaj Ecotourism Park opened its doors. Translated from the K'iche' language, its name means “Heart of the Forest.” The goal is to offer a new alternative for healthy fun to national and international tourists, framed within ecological, community-based, and sustainable tourism, promoting a culture of protection and conservation of natural resources, while offering a strategy for financial sustainability.

The association's objectives are: to conserve and enhance the area's natural wealth; to enhance and promote the customs and traditions of the K'iche' Maya culture through sustainable community-based rural tourism activities; to improve the knowledge and skills of the local population through environmental education activities; to contribute to local economic development; and to provide the local population with spaces for recreation and leisure.
